On Self-Love
Beloved souls, Make peace with yourselves!
YOU, with the black and blue heart.
YOU, the self-sabotaging in habits and habitat.
YOU, standing there…
Hiding your wildfire
IN SILENCE!
Don’t you know who you are?
You are the children of ancient stars!
The divinity of infinity is livin’ within your skin, kids.
A microcosm of the Universe churns in your eyes.
So ditch your costumes
Little soldiers, and great pretenders.
They no longer serve you!
And believe it or not,
Those lies…
Ain't got nothing on the pure majesty that swirls around in your insides.
WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL ALIVE?
Because I want you to shine…
Like you’re still just five and big-eyed
With your pocket full of dreams
So big and so real
That everything impossible
Seems possible because
IT IS POSSIBLE!
Come now, you clock-watchers and reflection-checkers!
I want the list-makers, and the control freaks, and all the big fakers
To gather round this fire and try to tell me that this world has withered you too cold and old to believe in magic anymore.
You see, the funny thing about growing up
Is that you have to grow back in.
You’ve tasted freedom once before. You were born innocent.
If you really believe you were just made to march along in line…
Follow the leader one by one and always step in time
Recite your ABC'S
Then drown your broken dreams in wine
then FINE!
But I hope someday you’ll reconsider,
remember that you’re so much bigger.
Your inner voice
Deep, wild, and true
Invites you NOW
to listen.
Till then, you’re never living life
You’re only just existing.
